Tax Returns on the Golf Course!
Lars Swann set up his own practice, Bean Counters, last year. He’d been using BTCSoftware for corporation tax, self-assessment and practice management at his previous practice for some time and was keen to continue doing so. But Lars also wanted his new business to be a lot more mobile. By using the hosted desktop service from Hosted Accountants (www.hostedaccountants.co.uk) he can now access his software from more or less anywhere and recently completed a self-assessment return on his iPad from the ninth hole of the golf course. As his business grows, additional staff will also be able to access clients’ data and complete tax returns in exactly the same way, although Lars is hoping they won’t all be doing so half way through a round of golf.

A bumper crop of orders in the first week of January suggests 2012 will be a vintage year at BTCSoftware. Sixteen new customers in just four days and many more evaluating prior to a switch after January have certainly kept us busy. But Support is operating as smoothly as ever. The development team are busy too, as BTC will again be one of the first to launch for the new tax year and this is again expected to be in February. Thereafter they will be concentrating on a range of new features – many of which have been suggested by existing users.
The latest filing stats for returns filed using BTCSoftware show Self-Assessment up 275% & Corporation Tax up 400% compared to December '10 and success rates of over 97%. Continuing the growth trend December Companies House returns were double the November figure.
